Our journey began in the early 1960s when Michael J Cannon started producing concrete blocks in the village of Oranmore. In 1972, he relocated the company to its current location in Tonroe, Oranmore, where he purchased lands and developed a limestone quarry.
Since then, Cannon Concrete has grown to become a leading producer of construction products in the Galway region, servicing both the building industry and the agricultural sector. Our product range includes concrete blocks, ready-mix concrete, stone, and precast concrete products. We take pride in our state-of-the-art facilities, which include two computerised batching plants capable of producing up to 100 cubic metres of concrete per hour.
At the core of our business principles, we are committed to sustainable development with an emphasis on environmental and social considerations. Our limestone quarry in Tonroe has become a breeding site for a pair of Peregrine Falcons, a protected species. We work closely with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, who monitor the birds, have them ringed, and provide all necessary advice regarding the nesting area.
While Cannon Concrete has grown through innovation and investing in resources, we remain a family-owned company that prides itself on meeting customer needs through great service and high-quality products. Our concrete blocks are manufactured on-site using limestone aggregates from our quarry, blended with cement, GGBS, admixture, and water. This process results in low-density and highly durable blocks that meet the ISO EN771 standard. We also have a full quality control and materials testing lab on-site, ensuring that all our products are manufactured to the highest standards.
